The nucleosome is a protein-DNA complex that enables cells to compact DNA so that the nucleus can include the whole genome. This video is based on the result of a computational simulation of nucleosome sliding. With a strong positioning sequence, the DNA slides without following a corkscrew-like motion. Because DNA with a positioning sequence favors a bent shape along the nucleosome, it jumps without rotation.
